Introducing our Attorneys and Staff at your service
THE JAPANESE DEPARTMENT OF GARGANIGO, GOLDMITH & WEISS
Our Japanese department focuses on the special needs of the Japanese.
CHARLES M. GOLDSMITH
The Japanese department is headed by our Senior Managing Partner, Charles M. Goldsmith. After graduation from Brooklyn College and The University of Illinois College of Law in 1969 he worked as a NYC school teacher for two years and then in the NYC Controllers office for one year. He entered the field of immigration law in 1974 and was a founding partner of GG&W in 1978. Because of his strong interest in Japanese culture and his love of the Japanese people he spent many years promoting this segment of the firm’s business and proudly estimates that more than 50% of his clients are Japanese companies and Japanese individuals. He has traveled to Japan more than twenty times speaking annually at visa seminars in Tokyo and Osaka-Kobe. It was at a visa seminar in Tokyo sponsored by Nihon Keizai Shimbun that he met Shuma Saito.
SHUMA SAITO
For more than 25 years, Shuma Saito has been a key member of GG&W’s Japanese department where he currently serves as its Manager. A Keio graduate, Shuma’s fluency in Japanese and English enables him to easily communicate in both languages and be able to explain the complexities of our immigration law in simple terms easily understandable by our Japanese clients. His many years of experience make him an expert on consular processing in Japan and his extensive knowledge of our U.S. immigration law provides great guidance to both our Japanese corporate clients as well as our individual Japanese clients.
MAMI NAGAO
A graduate of Southern Illinois University and Iona College (with Honors), Ms. Nagao specializes in our Japanese corporate practice. Her fluency in both languages enables our Japanese clients to communicate directly in Japanese, and provide necessary information to them in Japanese which she can easily convert directly into approvable E and L, and other, visa applications.
OTHER STAFF
Our partner, Herbert A. Weiss, Esq. has a special expertise in “O1” visas for Japanese artists. Brian S. Weiss, Esq. represents several large Japanese manufacturing companies as does Tara J. Goldsmith, Esq. who spends many hours each day preparing both temporary and permanent visas (green cards) for Japanese manufacturers, software developers, trading companies, shipping companies, insurance companies, and banks. Matthew D. Goldsmith, Esq. specializes in E and L visas for transportation companies and a variety of smaller Japanese companies. He processes many H-1B and J visas for recent Japanese graduates of U.S. and Japanese companies.
Our paralegal staff includes Pat Casperson who served as the International Human Resources Manager of Panasonic Corporation for 25 years and Martha Cajina our office manager supervises our preparation of family-based petitions, green card renewals and cases requiring expedited handling by USCIS.
