TN (NAFTA - North American Free Trade Agreement)

The TN nonimmigrant visa allows citizens of Canada and Mexico, as NAFTA professionals, to work in the United States. The alien must be coming to the U.S. to work in a profession that is included on a list of acceptable TN occupations.

Canadian citizens usually do not need a visa and thus can apply for TN visa status at a U.S. port of entry.

Mexican citizens must apply at a consulate for a TN visa.
